ISenator Fuschillo and Assemblyman McDonough Secure
$80,000 for the WFC
In early September,
the Wantagh Football Club officially celebrated the
anticipation of the upcoming season with a Pep Rally at
the
Wantagh
High School
. Over three
hundred fifty youth football players and cheerleaders
from the Wantagh/Seaford community joined in the special
evening with their families.
The highlight of the evening was provided by two
good friends of the WFC.
Special guests of honor, Senator Charles J.
Fuschillo Jr. and Assemblyman David McDonough, delighted
the packed house with a monumental announcement.
The Senator and Assemblyman have worked to secure
a $30,000 operating grant along with a $50,000 field
upgrade. Rally-goers
greeted the news with several rousing ovations in
gratitude to these two gentlemen who have been
instrumental in the success the WFC has enjoyed since
its inception three years ago and for their tireless
commitment to improving the quality of life for
residents of our community.
The Senator and Assemblyman have been impressed
by the tremendous enthusiasm generated by previous WFC
events and this Rally was yet another unique evening.
The operating grant insures the Club will
continue as a flagship youth program for the children of
the Wantagh/Seaford community while keeping registration
fees reasonable. The
field upgrade will provide for continued improvements at
the
Mandalay
Elementary School
practice facility. The
WFC has already invested over $15,000 toward the
improvement of the facility, as well as countless hours
of donated labor by local contractors.
The astounding growth of the WFC is largely
attributable to the direct involvement of Senator
Fuschillo and Assemblyman McDonough, as well as
Superintendent of Wantagh Schools, Dr. Carl Bonuso and
the School Board.
The administrators of the WFC have a clear vision
for the future of the Club and have gained a no-nonsense
reputation by maintaining a focus on instruction and
development. This
approach has helped the WFC distinguish itself from
other youth leagues.
Relying on the continued support of its
aforementioned friends, along with strong community
involvement, continued growth and success is a certainty
